Campbell McLean and Cam Reid (Kimberley Dynamiters) and Peyton Trzaska (Princeton Posse) have been selected the Instat KIJHL 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending April 2, 2023.
McLean – Top Forward – The Whitecourt, Alberta product had two goals and two assists in two games to help the Kimberley Dynamiters earn a split in the KIJHL Final against the Princeton Posse. In the opening game, the 6-3, 195-pound forward assisted on the goal to tie the game at one. In Game 2, McLean was in on all three Dynamiters goals in a 3-2 double overtime win. McLean assisted on the 1-1 goal, then scored the last two goals for the win. McLean was fourth among KIJHL points leaders with nine goals and 21 points in 18 games leading up to Game 3.
Reid – Top Defenceman – The Kimberley product collected five assists in the first two KIJHL Final games. Reid, recently named the KIJHL’s Top defenceman, assisted on all three goals in their Game 1 loss to Princeton. In Game 2, he assisted on the 2-2 goal and overtime winner. Reid is second among all KIJHL defencemen in playoff points with 15 in 18 games prior to Game 3.
Trzaska – Top Goalie – The Drayton Valley, Alberta product turned aside 82 of 88 shots he faced against the Kimberley Dynamiters. In the opening game of the KIJHL Final, Trzaska stopped 22 of 25 shots in a 6-3 win. In Game 2, he put in a tremendous performance for the Posse, stopping 60 of 63 shots in a 3-2 double overtime loss. Prior to Game 3 in the KIJHL playoffs, Trzaska had played in 14 games, going 11-2-0 with one shutout along with a 1.95 goals against average and .943 SP. It’s the second straight week he has been selected the Top Goalie.
